What a nice pair of boots! I wear these for work boots as a Maintenance Engineer and love them so much that I even wear them around as every day shoes when I’m not at work. They make this style with and without the safety toe, this one is WITHOUT the safety toe. I spend a lot of time working on equipment kneeling with my toes bent so safety toes are not an option for me. If you want the safety toe version you can look up the model number on Irish Sitters own web site.When I first put them on my first impression was the insert had no cushion what so ever and would need some good gel inserts, my local store didn’t have my size insert so I wore these the first week just as they come out of the box. Now that I’m use to them I don’t feel any need for extra inserts. They’re very comfortable wearing all day at work, kneeling up and down, walking miles in them, so comfortable that I continue wearing them even after work. No need for any “break in” period, the leather is already soft enough that they feel already well broken in right out of the box.My only concern is how they glue the soles on at the toe. Past experience has shown me the glued on sole eventually pulls apart at the toe on this manufacturing technique. So I’ve been keeping an eye on the toe where its glued, so far so good, been about a month in them for a good 18 hours per day everyday, about 1,000 miles and not babied at all, holding up very well, still looking great, still very comfortable. At least with the Vibram soles I know I can get them repaired or the soles replaced if ever needed.
